What's So Cool Video Contest

Voting Information

What’s So Cool West Central Contest videos are all final and live on the website.  They can be viewed at:  https://www.whatssocool.org/contests/west-central-pa/.

In light of the public health concerns and school closings, the voting times will remain as: Mar 23rd (12:01 am) until Mar 25th (11:59 pm). Please tell family, and friends to vote! During the voting period, there will be a ‘vote’ button under each video. You can actually vote as many times as you like (sort of like American Idol), you just need to refresh the page each time. (However, we’re told that the website has the ability to detect computer generated votes or hackers to be sure there is no tampering with the votes!)

Guidance

Overview

Ms. Tracey Warner serves the West Middlesex Area School District as the Middle School and Senior High School Counselor.

  • Ms. Warner is primarily responsible for students and guidance related supports for grades 7- 12.

She is available to meet with students, parents, and teachers in regards to a number of issues that may include a student's academic progress, social development, and emotional well-being.

Specific services that the guidance department offers include the following:

  • Counseling individual students who may experience academic, social, and/or emotional issues.
  • Consulting with parents whose student(s) may be experiencing challenges at school or at home.
  • Collaborating with teachers in order to assist and support students academically and socially in the classroom setting.
  • Advocating for all students to ensure that they receive a safe, personalized, and effective education.

Scheduling Timeline

Each year it is the goal of the Guidance Department to ensure that West Middlesex students clearly understand the scheduling process and the courses for which they are scheduling. By adhering to an efficient timeline, student will receive ample opportunities to examine their academic plan, seek the support of counselors and teachers, review their decisions, and if necessary, make changes prior to the end of the current schoolyear. Below is the tentative scheduling timeline:

Mid to Late February

  • School Counselors and teachers will lead a ‘Scheduling Seminar’ explaining the scheduling timeline, and effective scheduling techniques. Teachers will take an active role in presented elective courses to provide students with a clear understanding of each course.

Mid March

  • School counselors will hold large assembly, classroom, and/or computer-based meetings with students. During these sessions, students will select their preferred elective courses for the school year.
  • Students will review selected elective courses with parents and return their worksheets with a parent signature to the guidance office upon parent approval.

Early April

  • Teachers and school counselors will make recommendations for students’ core academic courses. The timing of the portion aligns with the end of the 3rd 9 weeks to ensure accurate and timely information that is vital to the formation of the Master Schedule.

Mid to Late April

  • School counselors and Principal will continue to develop the framework of the Master Schedule to meet the needs of core and elective requests for the following school year. Multiple Master Schedule options are considered to ensure that the most effective combination elective and core combinations is applied.
  • School Counselors will review all students' schedules prior to distribution to look for conflicts or significant flaws in individual schedules.

Early to Late May

  • Tentative schedules are distributed to students for review. During this time and the time leading to the end of the school, meetings with school counselors should be scheduled in order to finalize the schedules prior to the last day of school.

Last day of school- July 15 (Summer Break)

  • Student schedules and Master Schedule are finalized and ‘locked in’ for the upcoming school year.
  • School counselors are available by appointment only. Students moving into the district over the summer should contact the high school office to speak with the Principal and/or set an appointment with a school counselor.
